Thanks to Lenten funding efforts in 2014 and 2015, Santisimo Sacramento was able to break ground and establish the San Juan María Vianney (SJMV) Trade School. The newly- founded school offered a means for men and women of all ages to receive a practical education and break the cycle of family poverty. Classes in cosmetology, baking, sewing, auto mechanics, and computer science are offered to students as part of the CETPRO
Thanks to the support from generous parishioners in the fall of 2024, the addition of an Institute to the trade school was made possible, and the first classes of el Instituto de San Juan Maria Vianney are set to begin in the spring of 2025!
Currently undergoing the Instituto addition, SJMV will be the only combination of trade school and institute in all of Peru. This is such a distinction that the Peruvian government is approving all diplomas to be national certifications!
“To be an institution that brings productive technical training with values, morals, and faith, a good work ethic, business sense, and champions of the faith, having a model like San Juan Maria Vianney supporting the development of the community to generate their own employment and having the confidence to face the challenges of the world.”
SJMV is honored to offer nursing certifications to its students (with advanced degrees for its nursing students enrolled in the institute!)
Students of the Dr. Jim Wallace School of Nursing graduate with real-world skills and knowledge that enable them to receive very in-demand jobs within the medical field.
They are able to practice procedures and hone their skills on medical models, as well as hands-on training with professors.
Much like nursing, students from the automotive program often find employment before their graduation date - their skills are in very high demand! SJMV teaches students a variety of mechanical skills in the automotive industry, such as engine repair, tire balancing and rotation, among many others. The automotive program also has an excellent partnership with the Amato Auto Group and the Rotary Club in southeastern Wisconsin!
Students in the cosmetology program are very entrepreneurial and have a hard work ethic.
Many students operate storefronts in their neighborhoods and offer their services to neighbors and friends while they are practicing their craft.
Students learn a variety of disciplines for different areas of the body such as hairdressing, facials and skincare, makeup, and nails.
(Please note: The classroom pictures were taken during summer break and also during preparation for the addition of the Institute...these classrooms will be filled with life and learning in the spring!)
Students are able to learn and practice advanced baking and cooking techniques, receiving degrees in the culinary field.
SJMV is particularly of value to these students because it offers training on industrial cooking and baking equipment that the students will use in their field upon graduation.
Just like here in the states, this equipment is not readily available to students in their homes, so the school offers a significant advantage for those looking to work in the culinary field.

Students at SJMV learn the proper skills and techniques to make clothing and accessories for personal wear, as well as more domestic uses like home decor and bedding!
