¡Leyendo para Perú!-Reading for Peru!
During the week of February 24 through March 1, the children of St. John Vianney School will read to raise money for the purchase of books for the children of our international twinning relationship, Mother of Good Counsel School, in Piura, Peru.
Since our Read-a-Thon ends right before Leap Day, our theme this year is F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely on God) We will have many unique and prayerful reading activities throughout the week based on this theme.
Father Joe sent a message for our students reminding them how this project connects us in our faith and provides books that the students in Peru would otherwise not have. Please help your child participate in this fun and worthy service experience.
- Help your child find sponsors (family, friends, neighbors, colleagues) who will pledge a certain amount of money for every minute that your child reads during the week of the Read-a-Thon. Add the sponsor’s name and pledge to the Sponsor Pledge Sheet. Sponsors can indicate a flat amount or maximum pledge. All pledges are tax deductible.
From Monday, February 24 through Sunday, March 1, help your child record all minutes read on the Tracking Sheet. For those children who are not yet independent readers, you may include the minutes you read to them. Be sure to include in-school minutes.
- On Sunday, March 1, help your child add all the reading minutes recorded on the Tracking Sheets. Then collect the pledges. Please make checks pay able to “St. John Vianney Parish –Reading for Peru.”
- Turn in the Tracking Sheets, Sponsor Pledge Sheets, and collected pledge money to St. John Vianney School by Thursday, March 5, in preparation for “The Big Reading Reveal.”
