Mrs. Madsen has been an educator for more than 35 years, with several years taken off to raise her 4 children, who are now all adults with children of their own. She began her career as a 5th grade teacher in the Waukesha Public Schools, followed by being employed as Co-Director of the Elmbrook Church Child Enrichment Center which serves children ages 2-6. This was followed by 5 years teaching 5th grade at Brookfield Academy. Next in her career, she worked for over 10 years as a Reading and Math Resource teacher, as well as ESL teacher in the Hartland-Lakeside Public Schools. Following the Lord’s leading, she taught 4th grade for 7 years in Milwaukee at Eastbrook Academy, a Choice School, followed by being hired as their K-8 Head. Her next job was as K-12 Principal at The Milwaukee Academy of Excellence, another Choice School, after which she decided to retire. However, the Lord had other plans, and her path led to St John Vianney as a long-term sub for Mrs. Scaffidi in 5th grade, followed by job-sharing in the same grade the following year. The many and varied experiences have been challenging as well as enriching.
Mrs. Madsen’s goal for any student she works with is that they would know they are loved, and that they are made in God’s image, that the Lord has a purpose for each one that only they can fulfill, and that they would be encouraged to always trust that, “ He who began a good work in them (you) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
