School Board
School Board is a policy making body whose responsibility is to:
• Develop and define policies which govern the operation of educational programs at St. John Vianney School. • Promote and monitor principal's implementation of policies.
The goal of School Board is to continue to provide excellence in education and to compete in the Brookfield area market with affordable tuition while promoting spiritual knowledge through witness to the Gospel message.
School Board is governed by its own constitution and is ultimately accountable to Parish Council. SJV School policies adhere to policies and general guidelines formulated by the Archdiocesan Board of Education.
The functions of School Board include: • To be responsible for all educational activities of the school. • To establish and recommend policy for the operation of school educational programs. • To assist in the development of long range plans for educational programs of the school. • To evaluate and approve the school education budget and to submit same to the Parish Council for approval. • All local, as well as archdiocesan policies are available for reading in the school office. New policies are communicated to school families throughout the school year.
Committees
School Board has four standing committees:
Advancement Committee - communicates school information within the parish bulletin, hosts 4k open house, works in cooperation with Home & School's Public Relations Committee.
Development Committee, a subcommittee of Advancement, develops alumni relations (Shamrock News publication and alumni events), grandparent connections (E-Light the Way Day) and opportunities for 3rd source funding (including grants, donations and other sources).
Finance Committee - creates, develops and monitors the school budget.
Long Range Planning - coordinates planning for short- and long-range planning for the school. Takes leadership in coordinating the Teacher/Parent Survey every three years.
Policy Committee - creates, develops and recommends policies for the school.
